Holidays to Orlando are often filled with visits to major attractions like Walt Disney World Florida and Universal Studios Orlando, but a brand new Major League Soccer (MLS) stadium could well be a new sight for holidaymakers to visit.
According to a piece on Soccer by Ives, images of a soccer-specific stadium that were released over the internet were not official or up to date, but Orlando City did confirm that plans for a new ground are well underway ahead of a vote to decide whether the city will be granted entrance into the MLS.
Virtual images were leaked on architecture firm Woods Bagot’s website this week, showing the inside and outside of the Orlando soccer stadium, but they have since been removed after it was revealed that those plans were incorrect.
A statement by Orlando City read, “Simply put, Orlando City has not yet selected an architect to design the stadium – and will not do so unless both the City and County finalise its portion of funding for the proposed 50/50 percent public-private partnership stadium plan. Orlando City encourages all our fans to learn more, and to express support for the project.”
Orlando City are currently waiting for a final vote from the city and county commissioners on their proposed stadium, which is set to take place on October 7.
